The bed is the piece a guest judges first, and the one the housekeeper moves every day. Turkish factories make the base and the headboard to the project’s drawings, in the sizes of the destination market. Rovers prices every line with the Turkish partner factory that fits, sends shop drawings and fabric samples for approval, follows production, tests what the market needs tested, and inspects before packing.
Bed sizes by market
The mattress size drives the base, the headboard width and the bedside layout, so it is fixed first.
| Size name | UK (cm) | Europe, common (cm) | US (inches) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single / twin | 90 × 190 | 90 × 200 | 38 × 75 (twin) |
| Double / full | 135 × 190 | 140 × 200 | 53 × 75 (full) |
| Queen | 120 × 190 (small double) | n/a | 60 × 80 |
| King | 150 × 200 | 160 × 200 | 76 × 80 |
| Super king / California king | 180 × 200 | 180 × 200 | 72 × 84 (California king) |
Sources: Which? (UK and Euro sizes), Better Sleep Council (US sizes), read 4 Oct 2026. In the Gulf, the size follows the operator’s brand standard; we take it from the FF&E schedule, not from a default. Where a room is sold as either twin or king, two singles that zip-link into a king change the base design.
Bed bases
| Type | Build | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Upholstered divan | Timber or board frame, fabric-wrapped, on glides or legs; often split in two for access and zip-linking | Most guestrooms; easy to move for cleaning |
| Platform frame | Panel or timber frame with a slatted or solid deck, sides finished in veneer, HPL or fabric | Design-led rooms; low beds |
| Bed with drawers or storage | Divan or platform with drawers on one side | Serviced apartments and long-stay rooms |
| Sofa bed | See upholstery | Suites and family rooms |
A base that sits on glides needs a solid floor zone in the shop drawing; a base that a housekeeper lifts every day needs handles or a split. We note both on the drawing before the base is priced.
Headboards
| Type | What it is | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Upholstered headboard | Board panel with foam and fabric, fixed to the wall or the base | Fire test of the fabric, foam and interliner as built |
| Panel headboard | Veneer, HPL or lacquered panel, sometimes with an upholstered inset | Matches the casegoods finish sample |
| Wall-mounted headboard panel | Full-width panel, often running behind the nightstands, with reading lights, switches, sockets and USB | Electrical marking; cable route; access panel for service |
On the floor, an upholstered headboard is cut on a CNC from board, the foam is cut and bonded, and the fabric is stretched and stapled by hand. Pattern matching across a seam or across a row of rooms is checked on the first article before the batch runs.
Headboards with lights, sockets and USB
A headboard panel with electrics is furniture plus an electrical product, and each part is certified for the market:
| Market | What the electrical parts carry |
|---|---|
| EU | CE marking; equipment from 50 to 1,000 V AC is in scope of the Low Voltage Directive |
| United States | Components listed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), the route OSHA recognises |
| UK, Gulf and others | The marking the local code and the electrical consultant ask for |
The panel is built with a service void and a removable cover, so an electrician can reach the wiring without taking the headboard off the wall. The connection point and the circuit come from the site’s electrical drawing.
Fire standards for upholstered beds and headboards
| Market | Item | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| UK (hotels are medium hazard) | Upholstered headboards and seating | BS 7176 medium hazard, tested to BS 5852 |
| UK | Mattresses, divans, bed bases | BS 7177 medium hazard |
| EU | Upholstered parts | EN 1021-1 (cigarette) and EN 1021-2 (match flame equivalent), as the spec names them |
| EU | Mattresses and upholstered bed bases | EN 597-1 and EN 597-2 |
| United States | Upholstered furniture | 16 CFR Part 1640 (California TB 117-2013) |
| United States | Mattress sets | 16 CFR Part 1633 (open flame) |
Cover fabric, interliner and foam are tested as the combination that will be built, so the fabric choice is fixed before the test is booked. The test reports go into the order file with the shop drawings.
Packing and delivery
Bases ship wrapped in film over a breathable layer; headboard panels ship flat with corner guards. Every box is labelled with item code, room type, floor and box count. Outside the US we install, including fixing headboard panels to the wall; for US projects the scope is manufactured and delivered.
What to send us
Send the room-type drawings, the bed size per room type, the fabric or finish schedule, the electrical layout for the headboard wall and the destination. With no drawings yet, a room count and the brand standard are enough to start a priced schedule.
