A US owner, purchasing firm or contractor can source hotel casegoods, beds, seating and joinery from Turkey. Rovers reads the BOQ and drawings, prices every line with the Turkish partner factory that fits, issues shop drawings for approval, runs samples, follows production on the floor, inspects before packing and ships to the US port or the site. For US projects the scope is manufacture and delivery. The owner’s or contractor’s installer receives and installs, working from our room-by-room packing lists and assembly drawings.
US duty on Turkish hotel furniture, October 2026
| Layer | Applies to | Rate | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base (MFN) duty | Wooden furniture: office 9403.30.80, kitchen 9403.40.90, bedroom 9403.50.90, other 9403.60.80; upholstered wood-frame seats 9401.61.60 | Free | USITC HTS |
| Section 301 (forced labor) | Products of Türkiye, heading 9903.05.79, from 24 Jul 2026 | +12.5% | CBP CSMS #69326983 |
| Section 232 (wood products) | Certain upholstered wooden seating, kitchen cabinets and vanities | 25% | White House, Dec 2025 |

Why the numbers moved in 2026. The Supreme Court ruled on 20 Feb 2026 that IEEPA does not allow tariffs, which ended the 2025 “reciprocal” rates. A temporary Section 122 tariff followed and expired on 24 Jul 2026, and the Section 301 duties took over the same day. Whether a Section 232 line also pays the Section 301 layer follows CBP’s stacking guidance for that line. The importer’s broker confirms the full stack per entry, and every quote shows the HTS code for each line so the broker can check it before the order.
Standards US buyers ask for
| Item | Rule | What the buyer receives |
|---|---|---|
| Upholstered seating (sofas, lounge chairs, upholstered chairs) | 16 CFR Part 1640, which adopts California TB 117-2013 smolder test; permanent label required since 25 Jun 2022 | Test reports for cover fabric, barrier and filling; label artwork |
| Composite wood (MDF, particleboard, hardwood plywood) in any finished piece | TSCA Title VI formaldehyde limits; finished goods labelled “TSCA Title VI compliant” at entry. California’s CARB rule sets the same limits | Panel certificates from a third-party certifier; label on each piece or box |
| Wood species | Lacey Act: wood furniture HTS codes need a plant-product declaration (genus, species, country of harvest) | Species list per line from the factory’s purchase records |
| Brand and fire-code specs | The flag’s brand standard and the local fire code may ask for more tests on public-area seating | Quoted as their own line once the spec is known |
Ports, transit and delivery terms
Containers leave Turkish ports such as Ambarlı, Gemlik and Mersin for East Coast and Gulf ports, then move inland by truck or rail. Transit depends on the carrier and the routing, so it is quoted per booking with the freight line.
- FOB or FCA Turkey: the buyer’s forwarder books the freight.
- CIF US port: Rovers books the sea freight; the buyer clears and delivers.
- DAP site or warehouse: Rovers delivers to the address; the importer of record pays duty.
Packing is per room and floor, with a label on each box that matches the room schedule, so the installer can stage a floor without opening the whole load.
What to send us
Send the BOQ or drawings, the brand standard if the hotel is flagged, the site address and the date the rooms must be ready. With no BOQ, the drawings or a room count are enough for a first priced schedule with HTS codes on every line.
