Hotels and serviced apartments in Almaty, Astana and Shymkent can be furnished from Turkey by road. Rovers prices every line with the Turkish partner factory that fits, sends shop drawings for approval, runs samples, follows production, inspects before packing, ships and installs on site. Kazakhstan bought USD 18.14 million of Turkish HS 9403 furniture in 2025 (UN Comtrade), about twice what Canada or Kuwait bought.
Route from Turkey
| Route | How it runs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Caucasus road (Middle Corridor) | Truck from Turkey through Georgia and Azerbaijan, Caspian ferry Baku to Aktau, then by road inside Kazakhstan | Forwarders quote about 12 to 18 days (Canxansa, market data). Caspian crossings depend on weather, ferry space and port waiting (Düztaş) |
| Through Russia | Sea to a Russian Black Sea port, then road east across the Russia–Kazakhstan border | Winter weather and border conditions can add time (Düztaş) |
| Rail | Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway | Suits repeated high-volume flows more than a single hotel order (Düztaş) |
A hotel order usually goes as full trucks, one floor or one room type per truck, so the site can unload and install without a central store.
The EAC declaration (TR CU 025/2012)
Kazakhstan is a founding member of the Eurasian Economic Union (ITA). Furniture placed on the EAEU market is covered by the Customs Union technical regulation TR CU 025/2012, “On safety of furniture products”, adopted by EEC Council Decision No. 32 of 15 June 2012 and in force since 1 July 2014.
| Point | What the regulation says |
|---|---|
| Scope | Household furniture and furniture for public premises, including furniture made to individual order |
| Hotels | “Furniture for hotels, sanatoria and dormitories” is listed in Annex 1 |
| Form | Household and public-premises furniture goes through a declaration of conformity |
| Testing | For the declaration schemes used for hotel furniture (3d, 4d, 6d), tests are done in accredited labs on the Customs Union’s unified register |
| Applicant | A legal entity or sole trader registered in an EAEU member state: the manufacturer, or a party acting for the foreign manufacturer under a contract |
| Marking | The EAC mark on a label fixed to a non-removable part of each piece, not on drawers or loose shelves |
| Technical file | Item description, general-arrangement drawings with sizes, a short description of the build, test reports |
The shop drawings and material data from the order feed the technical file, so the declaration is prepared while production runs. The EAC labels go on in the factory, before packing.
Customs and documents
| Item | What applies | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Declarant | A Kazakh entity or its representative; foreign firms work through licensed customs brokers | ITA, Kazakhstan import requirements |
| Declaration language | Customs cargo declaration in Kazakh or Russian; other documents may be in a foreign language, with translation on request | Same |
| Documents | Invoice, supply contract, transaction passport for currency control, transport documents (CMR for road) | Same |
| Timing | Brief declaration within 24 hours of crossing the border; full declaration within 30 days of arrival | Same |
| Duty | Set per tariff line by the EAEU Common Customs Tariff; the broker confirms the rate per HS code | ITA, Kazakhstan trade agreements |
| Incoterm | FCA Turkey for a buyer with its own trucking; DAP site for one delivered price | ICC Incoterms 2020 |
A customs officer can ask for any foreign-language document to be translated into Kazakh or Russian (ITA), so the packing list, the EAC labels and the box labels are issued in Russian and English from the start.
What to send us
Send the BOQ or drawings, the room-type counts, the city, the name of the Kazakh importer if one is set, and the opening date. With no BOQ, the drawings are enough for a first priced schedule.
